Letters to the Editor.
The magazine has no comments section. The best replies are published here, as letters.
Write to letters@thesouthernmeridian.com. Letters of up to 1,000 words are welcome. Most published letters are 300 to 700 words. Letters should respond to something we have published or raise a clearly argued issue relevant to the magazine’s coverage.
We would rather publish a considered argument than host an open comment thread. We publish the strongest reader responses. Letters may be edited for accuracy, clarity and length, and publication is at the editors’ discretion. We do not publish letters that contain threats, abuse or unsupported allegations against named people.
What makes a good letter
A good letter adds something: a fact we missed, a local view we did not hear, or the strongest case against our argument. There is no minimum length, and a short, precise correction is welcome.
Include the article title or link, your name, a contact address and any affiliation or interest relevant to the subject. Say where you are writing from. We may consider anonymous publication where there is a good reason, subject to verification. Longer independent arguments of more than 1,000 words are not letters; write to the same address and tell us what you propose.
Corrections
If you think we have made a factual error, tell us which sentence, and send a link to the evidence. Email corrections@thesouthernmeridian.com. See Corrections.
